Principle: When the energy of the laser beam is low, it only melts the surface layer of the material. The heat diffuses into the interior through heat conduction, forming a shallow and wide weld seam (depth ≤1mm).
Features: Suitable for thin materials (such as 0.1-2mm metal sheets), stable welding process, and small heat-affected zone.
Deep penetration welding (small hole welding)
Principle: A high-power-density laser beam instantly vaporizes the material, creating a "small hole" several millimeters deep. The laser energy directly acts on the deep layer of the material through the small hole. After the molten pool cools down, a weld seam with a high depth-to-width ratio is formed (the depth can reach over 10mm).
Features: Fast welding speed (up to several meters per minute), large penetration depth, suitable for thick plates and high-strength welding (such as automotive frames, aviation structural components).
